Artificial Grass REVIVE: A Comprehensive Restoration

Artificial Grass

A surface made from synthetic fibres, designed to mimic the look of natural grass. Common materials include polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and nylon. While PP and PE are popular for general turf blades, nylon is particularly used as thatch in non-infill or low-infill products, providing a dense, shorter layer beneath the primary blades for added realistic look and and cushioning.

Reblooming

A process of rejuvenating artificial grass’s appearance, but it’s essential to understand that reblooming cannot alter the memory of the turf blade. Memory refers to the turf blade’s tendency to retain its shape after being bent or pressed upon. If blades have been matted or flattened for extended periods, they may not return entirely to their upright position. This is where reblooming makes a difference in appearance but won’t permanently lift matted turf.

Infill Types and Decompaction

Infill provides support to turf blades and adds weight to help the turf stay in place. Different types of infills have varied properties.

Silica Sand

It’s a commonly used infill but is known to compact more readily than others. De-compacting silica sand can be challenging due to its fine and uniform granule size.

Crumb Rubber, Organic Materials, TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) granules

These infills might be easier to de-compact compared to silica sand.

Sediment Buildup and Weed Growth

Over time, sediment and debris can accumulate, especially along grass edges. De-compacting these edges during the reblooming process can mitigate or lessen the chances of weed growth. However, while blooming can help reduce conducive environments for weeds, it doesn’t eliminate or prevent weed growth. The use of weed killers is effective against weeds, but application requires proper licensing. Plus, it’s paramount to ensure safety, especially around pets and children when using chemical solutions.

Detecting and Addressing Weak Spots

One of the side benefits of the REVIVE process is its ability to reveal potential issues in the artificial grass installation. Loose edges and compromised seams that may need attention become apparent. Addressing these early can prevent further damage or more significant issues down the line.

The Reblooming Outcome

The REVIVE Outcome – This is a methodical and demonstrative process. Observing the REVIVE process offers a clear view of the artificial grass transformation. Often, by the end of the service, an artificial grass system can be rejuvenated to a state that closely resembles its original, new appearance. In essence, the REVIVE service offers a comprehensive maintenance and cleaning solution for artificial grass, ensuring longevity, aesthetic appeal, and functionality while also highlighting potential areas needing repair or attention.

We start by blowing all the top debris from your lawn where we collect it, bag it and dispose of it correctly. This allows us to the inspect the grass.

step two

Clean Green - Inspect

We then undertake a detailed inspection of your entire grass. This is logged on your customer form. We will be able to identify any issues with the seam joints, grass edging, blade and yarn condition, existing base stability and any damage (burns / BBQ’s, fire pit embers etc)

step four

Clean Green - Brush

IN LINE WITH OUR 4 STEP PROCESS HERE IS A LITTLE MORE DETAIL ALONG WITH SOME ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE UPGRADES:

Top Debris Removal

To enable us to undertake the cleaning of your artificial grass we will blow and collect any lose debris that has accumulated. This can include leaves, pollen seeds and thread weeds. We will manually remove these to enhance the appearance and to help our products work across and within your artificial grass.

Please note: We do not spray weed killer as this puts children and pets at risk. Any stubborn weeds will be identified to the client upon inspection and can be removed at an additional cost*

We will carry out a full inspection of your artificial grass before applying any products. This not only helps ourselves but you as the customer to be aware of any issues that may have developed over time. This could be but not limited to any seems that have become unstuck or dislodged, dips and uneven sub-base areas – this can happen with direct jet washing and will create dips which then create pooling and gathering of water or pet urine, insect nests such as ants who like to eat their way through artificial grass backing. Any issue will be logged on your customer form to make you aware and should you wish us to carry out any additional repairs these can be discussed*

We brush your artificial grass blades to remove any deep set debris we were unable to get out manually. One artificial grass contaminant that causes a lot of problems is pet hair buildup. It is often hidden between the blades and only visible to the naked eye along the edges. We’ll remove pet hair that prevents your artificial grass from draining properly, enabling rapid growth of bacteria and unpleasant odours. Many customers are surprised at the amount of debris and pet hair that is deep set in the blades and grass backing. This initial brush will help the us apply the products and for them to be able to reach all areas of the artificial grass including the blades, backing for drainage and sub base odours.

Now the are is fully prepared for us to apply our GreenBlade products which are enzymatic bacteria-fighting cleaners and deodorizers, leaving your artificial grass smelling fresh. The GreenBlade range of products have been scientifically designed and manufactured to eliminate odours and fight off any bad bacteria replacing those with a fresh scent of the chosen products. We will never just administer and use an off the shelf, online standard cleaner. These are cheap products that wont deal with the problem at hand and will just mask any odour issues. We only use leading industry products that are manufactured specifically for artificial grass.

If there are any dips and pooling areas these will become apparent at this point with water and product accumulation. Our brushing system will help disperse these.

Finally, (after a short while to allow the product to work its way in and through) we will re-brush your artificial grass to help the products bond. This final re-brush will have your artificial grass looking like it had just been laid and not forgetting an amazing fresh fragrance from our products. We will work backwards where possible to clear any footprint indents to give it a show home finish you can be proud of.

Artificial grass will flatten over time naturally and with footfall and we recommend that you use a stiff brush in between Clean Green Grass cleaning and maintenance visits.

We will always make sure that we have tidied up and cleared any debris away. This will be removed and taken away by us to leave your garden and grass area looking in tip top condition. We will broom and brush up after ourselves as we treat and firmly believe each garden is just like our own. We pride ourself on total professionalism and friendliness from start to finish.

Before we leave we will either email you or leave you with your customer form which details the process and products used along with any issues that have been identified.

*Minor Repairs to Keep Your Grass in Tip-Top Shape – We can perform any repairs noted above and listed on your customer form and would be happy to provide a free no obligation quote.
